General

Where is the CREATE Digital Studio located? 

The CREATE Digital Studio is located on the first floor of Gelman Library. Our assistance desk can be found at the front of our studio, across from the elevators.

When is the CREATE Digital Studio open?

The open computing areas are open any time Gelman is open. Equipment check out, the audiovisual production suite, and staff assistance are only available during staffed hours, which are available on the library website.

Where can I find out more about workshops at the CREATE Digital Studio?

The library website has a list of all of our upcoming workshops.

Equipment

How can I reserve equipment with the CREATE Digital Studio?

You can reserve equipment by visiting our website and using the equipment checkout page. Please email us at create@gwu.edu if you have any issues with booking equipment.

What kind of equipment does the studio have?

A list of our equipment is available on our equipment checkout page

How long are equipment loans?

Equipment loans are for one week. If the equipment is not reserved for someone else, you may make another reservation immediately after you return your equipment.

I have an emergency and cannot return my equipment by the due date, what should I do?

Please contact us at create@gwu.edu or 202-994-1336 as soon as possible. 

Where can I learn more about using the equipment?

You can visit our studio and ask our student staff for a brief introduction to the equipment. If you would like more detailed advice, please contact or make an appointment with instructional technologist Ben Horn or Drew Moger

Studio Spaces

How do I reserve a space at the CREATE Digital Studio?
Can I reserve computer workstations at the studio?

Workstations are available for walk-in use on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you need to ensure use of a particular station, contact us at create@gwu.edu

I would like to make more detailed plans of how to use the studio space, who should I reach out to?

Please contact or make an appointment with instructional technologist Ben Horn or Drew Moger for more information about class sessions or events at CREATE.

Large-Format Printing

How do I submit a request for a large-format print?

Free printing is available for students and faculty to print a research poster or class project. No other print requests will be accepted. If you are printing for a class project, the instructor must submit a request to CREATE for your print request to be processed. 

3-D and Large-Format Printing

What is the turnaround time for a large-format print?

We can not guarantee a specific turnaround time for large format prints, but a project is typically printed out within 24-48 hours.

How big can my poster be?

Our printer is 42" wide, so the shortest side of your print cannot exceed 42". Your print request should also be no smaller than 12"x18".

Why is there a white border/space around my print?

CREATE Digital Studio offers printing services only. You may need to trim your poster to the correct size.

If you require trimming, mounting, or any additional services, you may need to use a professional printer. A FedEx Office location is available at 2020 K Street.  

Will you mount my poster on foam board? 

CREATE Digital Studio offers printing services only. If you require trimming, mounting, or any additional services, you may need to use a professional printer. A FedEx Office location is available at 2020 K Street. 

Are there any costs associated with large-format printing?

All services at the CREATE Digital Studio, including large-format printing, are free. 

3-D Printing

How do I submit a request for my 3-D print?

Submit a 3-D print request through our form.  

What is the turnaround time for a 3-D print?

We can not guarantee a specific turnaround time for 3-D prints. Printing time varies depending on each project. 

How big can my 3-D print be?

The maximum size of print for our printer is 9.84" x 8.2" x 8.2" (250 x 210 x 210 mm).   

Are there any costs associated with 3-D printing?

All services at the CREATE Digital Studio, including 3-D printing, are free.
