GW Past: Highlights from 200 Years of History

Etching of a 3 story building

In GW Past you will find essays, lists and timelines designed to share highlights and summaries from GW's 200-year history for your quick reference. This includes information about GW's founding and location, as well as brief histories of some of the past and present schools and divisions that make up GW.

Please also visit our digital collections pages, a part of our commitment to making GW history as accessible as possible. Researchers looking for historical information about buildings on the GW Foggy Bottom Campus may find the 1999 report Reconnaissance-Level Architectural Survey of Properties in Foggy Bottom, Washington, D.C. particularly useful.

This site is a service of the GW University Archives, which holds much more information on GW's history than could possibly be published here. If you don't see an answer to your question here or in our other pages, if you are looking for more in-depth information, or if you have additional historical material to contribute, please contact the University Archives.
