Gelman Library will be closed May 17, 2025 - August 17, 2025. While the physical space of Gelman Library will be temporarily unavailable, our library services will continue remotely.
Gelman Library's building and general collections are closed to the public. As a library at a private institution, we are obligated to focus our limited resources on our primary users, the students, faculty and staff of George Washington University.
Entrance to Gelman Library and use of library resources and services are extended to some users affiliated with university and library consortia, local residents associations, and other groups. Building access is limited to the hours of 7 a.m. - midnight unless otherwise specified. Anyone in the library who is not a currently enrolled GW student, faculty or staff member is required to leave the building at midnight. Visitors to the Special Collections Research Center, and Global Resources Center are required to leave the building when those service areas close.
Details on access, borrowing privileges, and ID requirements for entering the library are available on our Visiting the Libraries page. Read conduct guidelines for visitors.
