Blackboard
Blackboard is GW's official course management system. You can use it to deliver course materials, assessments, and other learning activities to your students online. You can also provide a live virtual classroom environment using Blackboard Collaborate UItra. Live sessions can be hosted, recorded, and made available to students right in your Blackboard course.
Access Blackboard
To log in to Blackboard, go to blackboard.gwu.edu and enter your GW UserID and password.

Courses are not created manually in Blackboard. Instead, courses with an instructor assigned to them in the GWeb System are automatically created in Blackboard and associated with each instructor's account. Courses are initially hidden from students until you choose to make it available.
Each semester, Blackboard courses are made available to instructors on the following schedule:
- Fall Semester: July 1st
- Spring Semester: December 1st
- Summer Semester (both sessions): April 1st
Enrollments
Instructors and students are automatically enrolled in Blackboard courses based on their registration status in the GWeb System.
Enrollments in Blackboard are updated only once a day in the early morning. So if you or a student are added to a course in GWeb today, you will have access to it in Blackboard the following day.
