Kevin is the program associate for the Center for Undergraduate Fellowships and Research (CUFR) and comes to the George Washington community from Grafton, West Virginia - the birthplace of Mother's Day and home to the International Mother's Day Shrine.
Prior to GW, Kevin lived in Morgantown, WV. He served as the program coordinator for West Virginia University's institutional Office of Undergraduate Research for five years. At WVU, Kevin advised students seeking development and opportunities pertaining to undergraduate research through activities including relaunching a lapsed undergraduate research journal, the Mountaineer Undergraduate Research Review, and coordinating travel with students to state and national research conferences.
As an undergraduate at WVU, Kevin studied English and biology and discovered the benefits of undergraduate research by engaging in sociolinguistics research under the direction of Dr. Kirk Hazen through the West Virginia Dialect Project. After graduating from WVU and participating in the Disney College Program at Walt Disney World for an academic year, Kevin continued his graduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education in Philadelphia. Under the supervision of Dr. Michael Nakkula, Kevin served as a graduate research assistant and studied the impacts of a civic engagement curriculum on the identities of students attending the Facing History High School in New York City. As a graduate associate for college housing, Kevin lived alongside undergraduate students and coordinated social and academic programming in Rodin College House. Kevin returned to WV during the summer months to serve as an AmeriCorps community coordinator for the Energy Express summer reading and nutrition program.
During unstructured time, Kevin has completed certifications as a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach, Les Mills Bodypump instructor, and as a Project Management Institute Project Management Professional. He enjoys making and selling art and is eager to discuss popular arts, politics, and culture.
As a program associate for CUFR, he is thrilled to guide students toward high-impact research and scholarship opportunities to empower students to advance local, regional, and global development.
