Course Design Institute

CDI is a “bootcamp” style program that guides faculty through the design of a new course or the re-design an existing one in a facilitated, supported environment. Participants experience the iterative, dynamic, and scholarly process of learning-focused course design and the benefits of active learning.

All GW faculty members are invited to apply. The time commitment is an intensive 4.5 days and $500 stipends are awarded upon successful completion. Food and many opportunities to collaborate with fellow faculty are an integral part of the experience. The CDI has proven relevant to any teaching mode. This...

OVPR's Research Enhancement Unit offers a series of engaging Faculty Research Salons designed to connect GW faculty from diverse disciplines in collaborative intellectual and scholarly exchange around research-themed issues, questions and challenges. The salons are moderated by leading faculty and university leadership.

The topic for this salon will be, "What are the possibilities for research using social media data?" The discussion will be led by Dr. Kimberly Gross and Dr. Howie Huang. It is being hosted by GW Libraries and the OVPR Research Enhancement Unit.

Scholarship on Teaching and Learning (SoTL) is a growing area of research and discussion at top universities across the country, and we are excited to be joining their ranks through this inaugural effort. GW faculty interested in the systematic inquiry of teaching and learning are invited to present their classroom research, big or small, completed or in progress, at a SoTL Poster Session that will be part of the 2017 GW Teaching Day on September 28, 2017.
