Dr. James Martin joined GW’s Center for Teaching Excellence as an Educational Developer for STEM. He works closely with faculty to design courses and assessments grounded in learning science, facilitate workshops, and integrate AI into higher education instruction. He previously co-directed an AI in Medicine program where he developed Socratic AI tutors and built AI literacy curricula. A molecular biologist by training, James holds a PhD from Princeton University and completed postdoctoral research at UChicago, with teaching experience spanning high school through medical school. His work focuses on inclusive STEM education, active learning, and helping instructors balance rigorous content with productive student struggle.
