Unmentionable: The uterine body in the archives

This event has already taken place, please don't try to go to it!

Join us for a pop-up exhibit featuring archival materials and rare books documenting the material, medical, and social cultures around the uterine body.

Materials document a range of uterine activities including menstruation, menopause, pregnancy, birth, and beyond. This exhibit will offer examples of how the uterine body has been understood, illustrated, regulated, obscured, ignored, and advocated for throughout history. Inspired by efforts on campus such as the People for Periods project and Period Portraits, we invite you to this inclusive event that will showcase historical representations of taboo and unmentioned biological realities for many people.
