Al-Mutanabbi Street Starts Here DC 2016 commemorates the 2007 bombing of Baghdad’s historic bookselling street, celebrating the free exchange of ideas and knowledge and standing in solidarity with the people of Iraq and everywhere free expression is threatened. Join founder Beau Beausoleil, participants from Blue Wings and the Afghan Women's Writing Project, and Corcoran Creative Writing and Art and the Book students for a workshop and pop-up exhibit featuring broadsides, photography, and artists’ books. Participate in an interactive postcard project that lets you tell world leaders why freedom of expression is important to you. Light refreshments will be provided.
