Introduction to Geographic Information Systems

Learn the basics of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and how it can be used for research. By the end, participants will be able to see how GIS might integrate better into their research program and establish the initial steps of getting GIS installed and some introductory skills in this stand alone workshop.

This workshop will also be available to the GW community in real time on January 25th, 2017 from 5:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. via WebEx.

This workshop is part of the Visualizing Data with GIS Workshop Series​, which offers both introductory and in-depth sessions on using geographic information systems. Other workshops in this Spring 2017 series are Introduction to GIS, Finding GIS Data & ResourcesGIS Interface BasicsCompleting a MapSpatial Analysis with QGISand Interpreting and Obtaining Data from Historical Maps. All sessions will be first-come, first served.
