Research data is data that is collected, observed, or created, for purposes of analysis to produce original research results, but what does that really mean for your own work? Librarians, Debbie Bezanson and Tina Plottel, will define research data & data-related terms and discuss common data formats. You'll explore trustworthy repositories, access restrictions, and identify library and campus services and resources related to data.
This workshop is part of the Research Data Workshop Series for anyone who needs help collecting, managing, and visualizing research data. Data Demystified is offered consecutively with Data Management. Other workshops in this Fall 2017 series are Data Demystified, Data Management, Getting Data with APIs, Collecting Social Media Data with Social Feed Manager, A Walk on the R Side: Introduction to R for Data Analysis, and Humanities in the Open: Using the Open Science Framework for Digital Humanities. All sessions will be first-come, first served.
