Interested in studying social media for your class or scholarly research? GW Libraries offers a tool called Social Feed Manager for collecting data from Twitter, Tumblr, Flickr, and Sina Weibo. In this workshop, we will explore the data available from social media platforms, demonstrate how to collect and export data with Social Feed Manager, and discuss the ethical and privacy concerns in working with social media data.
This workshop is part of the Research Data Workshop Series for anyone who needs help collecting, managing, and visualizing research data. Other workshops in this Fall 2017 series are Data Demystified, Data Management, Getting Data with APIs, Collecting Social Media Data with Social Feed Manager, A Walk on the R Side: Introduction to R for Data Analysis, and Humanities in the Open: Using the Open Science Framework for Digital Humanities. All sessions will be first-come, first served.
