Entrance to Gelman Library is available to GW students, faculty, staff, and alumni who have a physical GWorld card enabled for campus access. No one will be allowed to sign in for access to the building in the absence of a physical GWorld card or enter the library if their GWorld card tap is denied.
GW students, faculty, staff, and alumni or visiting scholars with borrowing privileges may request items through the catalog and pick them up at the front entrance (without entering past the lobby) by appointment. GW community members who are in Online-Only or Distance Learning programs may select the Online-Only option to have library books shipped to them. Students are encouraged to take advantage of the 60+ printers available in buildings throughout campus. Computer workstations are available to those authorized to access the libraries and remote/virtual computing is available to everyone.
All other alumni and visitor access to the library buildings is only available for:
- Users of specialized collections with an appointment (including the Special Collections Research Center and Global Resources Center),
- Students/staff of the School Without Walls, and
- Attendees of scheduled events
All visitors must comply with GW's visitor guidelines for campus access.
