The James C. Gaither Junior Fellows Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace is designed to provide a substantive work experience for students who have a serious career interest in the area of international affairs. Students who are selected will be hired to work as employees at the Carnegie Endowment in Washington, DC on a full-time basis for a period of one year.
James C. Gaither Junior Fellows provide research assistance to scholars working on Carnegie's projects, which include areas such as Democracy, Conflict and Governance; Nuclear Policy; American Statecraft; Technology and International Affairs; Global Order and Institutions; Sustainability, Climate and Geopolitics and regional programs such as Asia, South Asia, Europe, Russia and Eurasia, Africa, and the Middle East. The selected junior fellows have the opportunity to conduct research, contribute to op-eds, papers, reports, and books, edit documents, participate in meetings with high-level officials, contribute to congressional testimony, and organize briefings attended by scholars, activists, journalists, and government officials.
This award offers a one-year full-time position ($45,000 salary) with benefits at our office in Washington, DC. Junior Fellows also receive a $1,500 relocation stipend before the program begins.
