Introduction to Tableau

This is a series of two workshops that will introduce users to Tableau. Attendance is strongly encouraged at both sessions:

Tuesday, September 27 from 2-4pm
Tuesday, October 4 from 2-4pm

Section one is a brief overview of using Tableau Public, explaining how to connect to data, exploring the Tableau interface, and building simple visualizations based on structured data.

Section two is a more in-depth exploration of manipulating data in Tableau, including tips for data standardization/cleanup, joining two worksheets, building more complex visualizations, filtering, and further visual customization. Participants will have the opportunity to publish finished visualizations online.

Participants are encouraged to download Tableau Public for free before attending the workshop.

This workshop is part of the Data Analysis with R and Tableau series for those looking to deepen their understanding of how to interact with data and more effectively and creatively communicate their research findings to wide audience. If you need personalized assistance with a data analysis, programming, or a coding project, consider booking a consultation with one of our librarian-experts.
