Intro to JavaScript

JavaScript is the programming language of the web. In this workshop you will learn how to take a static website built in HTML and CSS and add dynamic interactions. Along the way you will learn the basics of the JavaScript language such as variables, data types, loops, and functions. You will also learn how JavaScript can be used to perform a computation within a web page based on user input, and how JavaScript can be used to create a data visualization.

A basic understanding of HTML and CSS is recommended. Please bring a laptop.

This workshop is part of the Web Languages series for for anyone interested in common programming languages such as HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. Learn to write, markup, and code for web development. If you need personalized assistance with a data analysis, programming, or coding project, consider booking a consultation with one of our librarian-experts. Learn more about our services to support programming and coding and for working with data.
