GW Libraries now has access to Ancestry.com Library Edition, which supports genealogical and scholarly research. Attendees will learn the basics of navigating the massive collection of census, military, immigration, and vital records in Ancestry.com; including an overview of the types of records available, how and why one might use these records in their research, and how to search. During the workshop, we will practice search and retrieval techniques in Ancestry and practice reading original documents available in the database.
For those who might be off-campus, attendees will need the GW VPN installed and running to ensure access to Ancestry.com.
All sessions are free to GW students, faculty, staff, and alumni. GW has an institutional commitment to ensuring that all of our programs and events are accessible for all individuals. If you require any accommodations to participate in this event, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org at least 72 business hours (3 business days) prior to the event.
