Instructional Innovation Committee (IIC)
The Online Learning unit leads the Instructional Innovation Committee (IIC), a vibrant community of practice for faculty and staff involved in leading distance/hybrid education and other innovative pedagogical efforts. The IIC aims to enhance the overall quality of these types of educational offerings at GW and serves as a sustainable centralized resource for career distance ed and other online learning professionals to connect, collaborate, and support fellow GW experts.
Highlights of the IIC include:
- Peer mentoring program - a collaborative mentorship program for GW’s online learning professionals
- Sub-committees to support learning and collaboration among university online learning professionals, in areas such as project management, tools, and instructional media. Sub-committee members have presented at monthly meetings and completed projects together.
- Sharing processes, materials, and perspectives to support online course development across GW through monthly meetings and shared resources.
- Coordination for IIC members to apply and attend conferences.

The Generative AI and Teaching Group (GAIT) meets monthly on zoom. The group brings together faculty from across GW to discuss the impact of emerging genAI capability on teaching and learning, explore institutional issues around pedagogy arising from genAI, and gather high quality resources for effectively teaching students to thrive in this changing educational landscape. We welcome all to attend! To join this group, email Karen Singer-Freeman.
