Visiting Scholars and Researchers Entrance Policies
In the 2020-21 academic year, entrance to Gelman library is only available to residential students and to GW students, faculty, and staff who have special permission to be on campus (the on-campus cohort). Those who are not part of the on-campus cohort will not have physical access to campus buildings. During this time, visiting scholars and researchers are not eligible to access the libraries.
Requests for visiting scholars and researchers to access the print collections for pick up in the entrance lobby are handled by the Library Access Office in the Circulation Department. Visiting scholars and researchers must be sponsored by GW faculty or administrators; corresponding fees should be paid directly by the academic department or chartered institute. The sponsoring entity is also responsible for paying any library fees or fines incurred by sponsored scholars and researchers. The fee schedule for these individuals is as follows:
Borrower's Card
This card provides limited borrowing privileges for a non-refundable fee. Individuals with Borrower's Cards may order print materials through the library catalog and make an appointment to pick them up in the Gelman entrance lobby. Card holders are not eligible for certain library services such as mailed print materials, interlibrary loan or using electronic information resources to which access is limited by licensing agreements to members of the George Washington University community.
One semester/Summer: $250
Academic Year: $500
