How To Find Material in the NEA Collection
The NEA collection currently consists of 4500 boxes and is growing all the time. Due to the volume of material, the boxes must be stored in an offsite storage facility. Any researcher wishing to view the material must first identify what material they wish to view and place a request for the relevant boxes.
Review the finding aids to find the collection and series most relevant to your research. Most of the series are divided according to the office from which the papers originated. At the head of each series is the scope & contents note and the biography note. These will provide some information on the role of the office and the nature of what can be found in the collection. Within each series, you will find folders listed alphabetically by title. If you cannot find what you're looking for, contact the NEA archivist for assistance.
Each folder will be accompanied by a box number. Once you have identified the folders you wish to view, compile the list of boxes and send it to email@example.com. The boxes are located in an offsite storage facility so please make your request at least 4 business days in advance of your visit. Please make sure to mention the expected dates of your visit so we know when to expect you.
