Our team brings deep expertise in academic support and peer learning and can offer personalized guidance to help you build a high-quality program tailored to your students' needs.

We'll help you determine what type of academic support model is right for your students, drawing on national best practices such as the International College Learning Center Association Best Practices for Peer Learning Programs.
Operational Logistics
From staffing structures and job descriptions to scheduling and space planning, we can support you in creating efficient and student-centered systems.
Technology & Tools
We’ll consult with you on platforms like Penji, data tracking dashboards, and other tools that enhance access and streamline administration.
Assessment & Evaluation
We’ll help you set up meaningful feedback systems to assess usage, measure impact, and continuously improve the student experience.
While we do not directly manage programs housed in other departments, we are excited to serve as a thought partner and resource throughout your program’s lifecycle.

Peer Educator Training
Well-trained peer educators are the foundation of effective academic support. At Academic Commons, we provide comprehensive training rooted in national standards to help peer tutors, learning assistants, and other academic support leaders develop the skills they need to foster student success and grow as leaders themselves.

Academic Commons is certified by the College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA) to offer Level 1 tutor training, ensuring our curriculum meets high standards for effectiveness, professionalism, and student-centered practice.
We offer two flexible ways for departments and programs to partner with us on training:
Send Your Peer Educators to Our Training
Departments are welcome to send their peer educators to our semesterly training sessions. Held fully in person before the start of each semester, this training includes approximately 10 hours of instruction, meeting CRLA Level 1 certification requirements. Peer educators do not need to attend the full training; we are happy to work with you to select the sessions that best align with your program’s needs.
Consult with Us on Your Own Training
If your department already runs its own training, we’re here to help. Our team can review your curriculum, share best practices aligned with CRLA standards, advise on assessment methods, and help you formalize or enhance your training efforts. Whether you're seeking a one-time consultation or ongoing collaboration, we're excited to support you.
