Course Design Institute (CDI) Application

To be considered for acceptance into the University Teaching & Learning Center's 2016 Course Design Institute, please complete the following application by Friday, March 25th. The application will take approximately 20 - 30 minutes to complete, depending on your familiarity with the course you are planning to design.

Plan to complete the application in its entirety in one sitting, as intermediate work cannot be saved. Also, separately, please email a copy of the syllabus you plan to work on to the UTLC (utlc@gwu.edu).

All GW faculty members are invited to apply. Supporting $500 stipends are available for faculty who successfully attend and participate in all of the Course Design Institute, and deliver a designed/redesigned syllabus to the UTLC at the end of the week.

Stipends are being supported by CCAS, GWSB, Office of Academic Planning & Assessment, and the UTLC. Faculty will automatically be considered by submitting this application. The groups will exercise judgment in awarding the stipends based on several broad criteria:

  • evidence of faculty interest in improving course design
  • the expected enrollment for the course being designed
  • whether the course is a required or gateway course
  • specific support from a department chair or dean

Questions? Email the UTLC at utlc@gwu.edu or call 202-994-4026.

We will link to the CDI application form when it becomes available.
